Accessibility by public transport

by bus

There is a bus connection from the UK to Lyon, operated by Eurolines. For more information, visit the Eurolines or Flixbus website.

by train

There is also a good train connection: get a (return) ticket to St. Etienne, where you buy a ticket for Retournac. Then a taxi to Rosières. You can also travel by train to Le Puy, from there a bus (line 29) goes to St. Etienne at 4:40 pm, which stops in Rosières. Then a fifteen minute walk to La Garnasette.

by plane

Lyon is the nearest airport, where a car can be hired for the last 100km, about an hour and a half drive to la Garnasette. Of course you can also come by train from Lyon (St. Exupéry) airport to Retournac. Cheap flights to Lyon can be booked from various places in the UK.

Other practical matters

All route descriptions and maps for the walks are on loan. Except for the camping guests, we provide bed linen and towels. You will receive fresh towels halfway through your stay.

Don’t forget to bring a warm sweater for the evenings, a flashlight, a (small) backpack, and slippers for the home.

In Rosières there are a few shops, a pharmacy, post office, doctor and dentist and also a few cosy terraces.
